Upper Alta, Tighnabruaich
5/5 Star Upfront Reviews - September 2023
We spent the first week of September 2023 in Upper Alta and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Upper Alta is a lovely apartment in a beautiful location and has stunning views. The apartment is very comfortable, thoughtfully organised, well-equipped, nicely decorated, and impeccably clean. We especially appreciated the fact that we were able to bring our little dog, who had a wonderful time. We wouldn’t hesitate to make a return booking.

Stunning views
4.8/5 Upfront Reviews - July 2023
A very comfortable holiday home. Stunning views. Great place for walks and exploring, e.g. the arch and giant chair. Great to watch herons and oyster catchers at the water edge. Lovely cakes from Wild Kitchen and locally roasted coffee. Would definitely recommend.

Upper Alta Apartment

VRBO Review - July 2022
Everything we needed for a relaxing holiday we found in Tighnabruaich. A beautiful view from the balcony over the Kyles of Bute. Every day the light has given us a wide variety of color nuances. A short walk of 20 minutes away you can find a small supermarket and two lovingly designed café's. A twenty minute walk away beach life can be enjoyed in Kilbride bay. Here the shore goes gently into the sea so that the water on the surface is warm enough to go swimming without a neoprene suit. On the way back, small snacks can be enjoyed at a hut on the farm. Back in the apartment Upper Alta we find everything we need for cooking to take care of ourselves. Even a washing machine is available. Next to the house a wooden terrace can be used with a view of the Kyle. The beds are pleasant and the furnishings are nicely coordinated. If you like, sit down on cool evenings by the fireplace (with fire imitation and fan heater). There is always something to watch on the Kyle, the water sports, the seabirds... binoculars are also provided. Really everything has been thought of here. It is worth taking a trip to Tabert or the island of Bute. Beautiful are also the paths in the village in the direction of Leuchturm or up to the street.

***PERFECT*** in every way, location and scenery stunning, easy to travel to places of interest

Beautiful view in very quiet location

Oct 2021
As above- tucked away near the end of dead end road by the shore, gorgeous views. Apartment was clean, light, spacious, well appointed with for instance all the kitchen utensils you might need.
Easy to walk to local bus service and to access walks and ferries.

Superb apartment with stunning views

Everything about this apartment was perfect. Fabulous views and so peaceful.
Had requested single beds in back room and it was made as a double but called up and this was sorted quickly.
Would thoroughly recommend a stay here

Lovely short break

June 2021
Second time staying at Upper Alta, superb location with the beautiful views to Bute and over the water. We stayed 2 adults and 1 preschooler. Kitchen is really well equipped, the tupperware is super handy for picnics. Excellent access for paddleboarding straight on the water.
The apartment feels really relaxing. The only wee thing we'd feedback on is thicker/blackout curtains for the back bedroom please.

Stunning Apartment

Argyll Self Catering Holidays Sept 2020
My husband and I were absolutely delighted with this beautiful apartment. The standard of cleanliness was exceptional. It was so clean it never looked as though it had been lived in. The photos of the apartment are good but the actual apartment is far more stunning. I fell in love with it as soon as I opened the door. The rooms are spacious with the most outstanding views from the sitting room and the bedroom. The balcony is perfect for relaxing and looking out to the Loch. Everything you could possibly need is made available. The kitchen is spacious and has all essentials required. The area is quiet, probably more than normal due to Covid. There is a hotel and a cafe/bistro. A key store for any food items an art gallery and arts and crafts shops. If you are planning to tour around the area I would definitely recommend a car, although there are some beautiful walks within walking distance from the apartment. Kames is within walking distance with a larger array of shops. There is a stunning beach located next to Kilbride Farm. A pathway next to the farm leads to the beach. It's about 20 minute walk but well worth it. Next to the farm is The Bothy which serves the best food ever. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this property and location. We didn't want to leave. My small dog loved it too. We were so impressed we are now looking to book another short stay with Argyll Self Catering holiday in a different location. If the Upper Alta Apartment is anything to go by we will be well happy. Loved it!!

Fabulous

AirBnb Review Sept 2020

“We had a fabulous time and the apartment was excellent. It was clean, very well decorated, beds were comfortable, it was warm, coasy and welcoming. Didn’t want for anything. Great location with plenty of things to do locally. The views from the apartment are stunning and you spend a whole weekend just sitting in the living room window. I have totally fallen for the amazing scenery and will definitely be back.”
