DIRECTIONS
Getting here by road from Glasgow this fabulous drive takes you up the side of Loch Lomond, through the Arrochar Alps and over the world-famous Rest and Be Thankful. The final stretch winds along the coast with the Kyles of Bute stretching out ahead. There are some wonderful viewpoints dotted along this road. Take the A82 along Loch Lomond to Tarbet, then the A83 towards Inveraray and Campbeltown. At Cairndow, turn left on to the A815, then at Strachur turn right on to the A886, signposted Glendaruel and Colintraive. Just after Glendaruel turn right onto the A8003 towards Tighnabruaich. Once in Tighnabruaich follow signs for Kames and then to the Kames Hotel. The property is 250m along the shore road from the hotel, just before the junction heading back up the hill.

Getting here by road and ferry is another option is to get the ferry from Gourock to Dunoon and enjoy a drive through remote, mountainous country. The writer Iain Banks reckons it’s one of best wee roads in Scotland. You then pick up the same coastal road as above. Take the A8 to Gourock, then Western Ferries from McInroy’s Point to Hunter’s Quay near Dunoon. Turn right on to A815, then shortly after leaving the 40mph area, turn left on B836, a winding single track road with passing places. After about 17 miles, turn right on A886, then left on A8003 towards Tighnabruaich.

Craignethan - Peace & Quiet

4.8/5 Upfront Reviews - April 2022

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Craignethan. The location is just perfect and the environment so peaceful, relaxing and absolutely stunning.
I would certainly book the accommodation again, and we will definitely be back to the area next year.
When the weather is right, it’s better than the Med!!

Nice place to be both as a holiday stay and the west coast of Scotland

We go there to holiday, write for work and get time to reflect on life just by looking out the window as time goes by. Peace !

Perfect Bolthole

Sept 2021
Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location with a lovely hotel/pub just down the road and an excellent village store within walking distance. Perhaps not the best location for families with small children but if you want to walk in fabulous scenery or just to relax in beautiful surroundings it is perfect.
