  • Bedrooms: Two spacious and well-furnished bedrooms. A Master double bedroom and a king bedroom that can be converted to twin beds upon request.

To access Upper Alta Apartment entrance there is an external staircase at the rear.

Guests have access to an outdoor decking area with outdoor furniture to enjoy sunny days and summer nights. There is one designated car parking space at the side of the property, in front of the garage and further free on road parking at the end of the driveway.

Located on the waterfront in Tighnabruaich, the apartment is ideal for scenic walks along the esplanade. A 15-minute walk brings you to the main street, where you can explore local arts and crafts, cafes, and welcoming pubs.
 
Argyll’s Secret Coast is rich in Highland history, dotted with ruins, ancient sites, and castles waiting to be explored. The area is a haven for walkers, cyclists, sailors, and artists.

Just over 4 miles away is Portavadie, a well-known marina with a leisure spa, indoor swimming pool, outdoor infinity pool, jacuzzi, and three restaurants. You can also take a short ferry trip from Colintraive to the Isle of Bute, home to the historic Mount Stuart house and gardens.

TIGHNABRUAICH
Discover the coastal village of Tighnabruaich, tucked away on the West Coast of Scotland, also known as Argyll's Scret Coast. Justminutes away you will find local arts and crafts, cafes and welcoming pubs.  Bordered by Loch Fyne and the Kyles of Bute, this is an area of stunning natural beauty, with hills, glens, rugged coastlines, white beaches, clear waters and ancient forests. The whole area is steeped in Highland history and dotted with ruins, castles and ancient sites. 
 
Around 80 miles from Glasgow by road, this is the ideal tranquil holiday spot for sailors, tourists and fishermen alike. Known as one of the most scenic drives in Scotland, a drive along the narrow roads chisled out the hill side offers some of the best great views of the Bute, Arran and the Ayrshire coasts and the hills. 
 
DIRECTIONS
Getting here by road from Glasgow this fabulous drive takes you up the side of Loch Lomond, through the Arrochar Alps and over the world-famous Rest and Be Thankful. The final stretch winds along the coast with the Kyles of Bute stretching out ahead. There are some wonderful viewpoints dotted along this road. Take the A82 along Loch Lomond to Tarbet, then the A83 towards Inveraray and Campbeltown. At Cairndow, turn left on to the A815, then at Strachur turn right on to the A886, signposted Glendaruel and Colintraive. Just after Glendaruel turn right onto the A8003 towards Tighnabruaich.

We had a wonderful few nights here. The view and location are magnificent! The owners have done a brilliant job. The apartment just felt like home from home and so comfortable. I must congratulate them on buying such a comfortable mattress in the front bedroom. So many rental properties are let down by poor quality mattresses and I think it’s such an important part of a holiday break. It made a real difference and I came away feeling totally rested. Thank you.
One thing you could do with is a separate chopping board for onions and garlic as I don’t like to use the wooden boards as it leaves the smell. Apart from that this place is just the best and we hope to return one day. Also a shame lots of places locally were shut but the Kames grocery shop saved the day!

Upper Alta is a very comfortable, clean and well equipped apartment, ideally located for exploring the delights of southern Argyll and Bute. The property overlooks the Kyles of Bute and we spent many hours watching the sea, scenery and wildlife. There is plenty of information on places to visit and walks to enjoy in the region which was very helpful. The Isle of Bute is easily reached by a short ferry crossing and is well worth a visit. We would definitely recommend Upper Alta and we hope to return on a future holiday.

We spent the first week of September 2023 in Upper Alta and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Upper Alta is a lovely apartment in a beautiful location and has stunning views. The apartment is very comfortable, thoughtfully organised, well-equipped, nicely decorated, and impeccably clean. We especially appreciated the fact that we were able to bring our little dog, who had a wonderful time. We wouldn’t hesitate to make a return booking.

A very comfortable holiday home. Stunning views. Great place for walks and exploring, e.g. the arch and giant chair. Great to watch herons and oyster catchers at the water edge. Lovely cakes from Wild Kitchen and locally roasted coffee. Would definitely recommend.

Everything we needed for a relaxing holiday we found in Tighnabruaich. A beautiful view from the balcony over the Kyles of Bute. Every day the light has given us a wide variety of color nuances. A short walk of 20 minutes away you can find a small supermarket and two lovingly designed café's. A twenty minute walk away beach life can be enjoyed in Kilbride bay. Here the shore goes gently into the sea so that the water on the surface is warm enough to go swimming without a neoprene suit. On the way back, small snacks can be enjoyed at a hut on the farm. Back in the apartment Upper Alta we find everything we need for cooking to take care of ourselves. Even a washing machine is available. Next to the house a wooden terrace can be used with a view of the Kyle. The beds are pleasant and the furnishings are nicely coordinated. If you like, sit down on cool evenings by the fireplace (with fire imitation and fan heater). There is always something to watch on the Kyle, the water sports, the seabirds... binoculars are also provided. Really everything has been thought of here. It is worth taking a trip to Tabert or the island of Bute. Beautiful are also the paths in the village in the direction of Leuchturm or up to the street.
