GLENDARUAL
Glendaruel is a picturesque glen in the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll to the north of Loch Riddon. The valley’s main settlement is Clachan of Glendaruel and it is occupied by the River Ruel.
For anyone with an interest in local history, pay a visit to Kilmodan Church - you may notice that it has three separate entrances, each leading to its own gallery. As local legend goes, this was designed so that the three local rivalling Campbell families from Glendaruel, Ormidale and Colintraive could all visit the kirk without having to speak to each other! You can also see ancient carved stones, thought to date from the 14th and 15th century.

Subject to traffic, the cottage is about 90 minutes drive from the centre of Glasgow, 80 minutes from Glasgow Airport.

DIRECTIONS
By ferry: There are two regular car ferry services across the Clyde from Gourock ( half an hour on the M8 from Glasgow) to Dunoon. The Calmac ferry links with trains from Glasgow, but if you are coming by car, Western Ferries is probably the better option with, at peak times, 4 ferries running per hour. We are approximately 17 miles from Dunoon, taking the B836 through Glen Lean and then the A8003 towards Tighnabruaich- the cottages are one and a half miles from that turning.

By road: Cross the Clyde on the Erskine Bridge (3 miles from Glasgow Airport on the M8) and take the A82 alongside Loch Lomond to Tarbet then over the ’Rest and Be Thankful’ (the A83) ) before turning left onto the A815, sign-posted Dunoon. At the village of Strachur turn right onto the A886 and after 15 miles, just after the Clachan of Glendaruel, turn right again onto the A8003. We are located one and a half miles from that junction.

Perfect cottage in wonderful location
5/5 Upfront Reviews July 2023
Andrew and Sheila could not have done more to ensure that our stay was perfect. Perfect cottage for 4 and plenty of space for our two dogs who were made to feel very welcome. Felt totally at home. Splendid views across the loch and so much wildlife and birds to observe including white tailed eagles. We will definitely be back.

Sublime location, exuding peace.

A very well-equipped, comfortable house, spacious and easy to feel at home. We especially enjoyed the good quality cotton sheets, and the 3 bathrooms! The view is spectacular.

4.5 Upfront Reviews August 2022

Teal Cottage was just lovely. The setting was second to none. A truly beautiful location and perfect for a holiday to restore your equilibrium. The cottage had everything that you would need on holiday and our hosts were very generous, providing us with freshly caught Mackerel on our first day. We would definitely visit again.

The location is out of this world with so many wonderful views and beautiful places to visit.
5 star review Vrbo March 2022

This is a very well stocked property with everything you could need. It is a little 'tired' in that it does need some redecoration. it is spacious yet compact. The location is out of this world with so many wonderful views and beautiful places to visit. I loved the ferry connections with other parts of Argyll and the islands.

Fantastic functional and stylish.

Lovely lochside location. You can spend hours just looking out of the window. Very cosy and warm. Owners were very friendly and helpful and we look forward to coming back with friends in the future.

Teal is the real deal

This was our first visit to Argyll and Bute, it will not be our last. The cottage was perfectly situated for exploring the Secret Argyll Coast close to the ferries to Bute and Kintyre and situated on Loch Riddon on the Kyles of Bute. Stunning scenery. The cottage has two bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and an excellent kitchen. The cosy log burner and central heating make the cottage comfortable even in Winter. Andrew the owner was the perfect host and extremely welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend.

Teal Cottage is a pretty, very comfortable cottage with beautiful views of the loch and hills right from the lounge and kitchen windows. A great base for exploring Cowal, Kintyre and the surrounding areas with a whole variety of walks including coastal, mountains and glens. We had a wonderful stay here and received a warm and friendly welcome from our hosts. Highly recommended.
