The Property
With its breathtaking views across Loch Fyne to the Arrochar Alps, Newton Cottage North is located within a short walking distance of Inveraray, a historic Scottish town.

With a pedigree dating back to the 1850s, and previously owned by the Duke of Argyll, the cottage is part of the town’s conservation area and stands alongside an interesting range of period properties.

Inside
Recently fully renovated by its new owners, the seafront cottage has a new kitchen and new flooring in the cosy downstairs living room, with its small dining area and French doors leading to the spacious back garden. The centrepiece of the living room is its cheerful log fire set in a delightful antique fireplace.

The front window looks straight out onto the loch, with sweeping views of the hills to the north, east and south.

Upstairs there are two inviting double bedrooms and a family bathroom. The rear bedroom has views over the garden, while the front bedroom has majestic views over Loch Fyne to the hills on the other side of the sea loch.

When you wake in the morning you can enjoy the impressive views and bird life without getting out of your cosy bed. Both bedrooms are stylishly decorated, ideal for a romantic retreat. The modern bathroom features a full size bath with electric shower and screen, basin and toilet.

Outside
The garden is sheltered on three sides by high walls, including a historic stone-built barn. The shared garden offers a safe play area for children and, is ideal for barbeques, sun-bathing and listening to the birdsong. There is a parking area at the top end of the garden and an outhouse where bikes, canoes and kayaks can be stored.

INVERARAY
Inveraray is a town in Argyll, Scotland. It is on the western shore of Loch Fyne, near its head, and on the A83 road. It is a former royal burgh, the traditional county town of Argyll, and ancestral home to the Duke of Argyll. A short walk north of the New Town, the neo-Gothic Inveraray Castle remains the family home of the Dukes of Argyll. The castle is set in extensive grounds which contain a number of marked walks, the most strenuous of which rises over 800 feet to the tower atop Dun Na Cuaiche from where there is a spectacular view over the castle, town and loch.

The town is also great gateway to the Highlands & Islands and provides an excellent base for day touring. A few miles to the south and west, just beyond the town of Lochgilphead the mysterious Kilmartin Glen contains an astonishing range of carved stones, graves, stone circles, cup and ring carvings and other artefacts dating back to the dark ages.

A perfect cottage

Aug 2021
Newton North was wonderful. Perfectly equipped, lovely decor, great location with marvellous views across the loch. Thoughtful extra touches like hot water bottles, binoculars, ice packs already in the freezer, etc.

The only down side was the main road, which ran past the front door, with lorry traffic starting from early morning.

Great stay.

Arrived at the cottage which was very nice and clean, quite the home from home.
Would stay here again and would recommend this cottage.

Well deserved break in a fabulous cottage by the sea

5 Star Upfront review Sept 2017

Myself and my husband were able to grab a few precious days together and I booked Newton Cottage as the location for this. The cottage is very well located with unobstructed views to the lake and indeed just a couple of minutes walk from it. The cottage was very well laid out and a lot of thought had gone into the design, creating a lovely waterside atmosphere with the use of colours and furnishings. It contained all mod cons and everything you might need to cook for yourself if you so wished. Amenities were within a short walking distance and we were delighted to discover a Co-op almost next door (though you would hardly know it as it's off the main road) for any last minute needs. Access to the centre of Inverary was a few minutes walk away where you can find places to eat and drink if you wanted to do so. All in all, hiring the cottage was a very easy experience and good information was provided before and during our stay. We were so pleased, we decided that one day soon, we'll be back again.
