Explore
The idyllic village of Tarbert has an array of cafés, bars and local art galleries. Tarbert hosts several popular seafood and music festivals throughout the year and is home to the Scottish Series Yacht Race. For history lovers visit Robert the Bruce's 14th century castle above the town. Only the ivy-strewn ruins of the keep remain, though the view from the overgrown rubble makes the stroll up here worthwhile. There are steps up to the castle and a red waymarked path from the harbour front. Longer walks are also marked out, including a hike all the way over to Skipness. The shortest stroll of all is to the far end of Pier Road, where there is a tiny, but very lovely shell beach.

From the harbour you can catch one of the regular car ferry crossings to Portavadie and explore the Cowal Peninsula.  The beautiful islands of Arran, Islay, Gigha and Jura are easily accessible from nearby ferry ports. Head south for the Mull of Kintyre with white sandy beaches and magnificent golf courses, or north to Kilmartin Glen steeped in history and archeological sites. Campbeltown Distillery, and Inveraray Jail and Castle also make for great days out. There is an abundance of wildlife and a variety of outdoor activities including sailing, sea fishing, cycling, walking and windsurfing.

Car Parking: Free street car parking is available in the main harbour car park.

Pets Welcome: Two well behaved dogs are welcome, fees apply.

TARBERT
Backed by rugged hills and fronting on to an attractive natural harbour, the village is still home to a working fishing fleet and is an increasingly popular destination for the yachting fraternity. This is particularly so in May during the heats for the Scottish Series which are staged in Loch Fyne. The annual seafood festival in July also draws the crowds and is well worth a visit.

DIRECTIONS
The journey is approximately 3 hours from Glasgow. Travel on the M8, take the exit for Erskine Bridge M898. On North side of Erskine Bridge follow Crianlarich left. Take the A82 from Glasgow, past Dumbarton and Loch Lomond and change onto the A83, left at Tarbet. Follow the A83 past Inveraray, down Loch Fyne, through Lochgilphead and on to Tarbert.

Loch Awe House - Upper Apartment

August 2021

I had the absolute pleasure to stay at Loch Awe House.

The property itself was tastefully decorated and very comfortable and clean. The kitchen was fantastic as you could cook while looking at the awesome view.

If I could look at that awesome view every day I would be one happy bunny.

The area is lovely, beautiful, amazbubbles.

I would highly recommend everyone to go visit and stay at Loch Awe House.

Fab Time

July 2021

We had a fab time at Loch Awe House. The views from the house are perfect as is the house it self. Beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. We had sandy beaches  and clear seas all to ourselves. We even spotted some seals.

Thank you for allowing us to stay.
