GLENBRANTER
Glenbranter is a hamlet on the northwest shore of Loch Eck in the Argyll Forest Park, on the Cowal peninsula, Argyll and Bute in the West of Scotland. Nearby Strachur is only three miles way.  One of the jewels of the Forest Park, Glenbranter has trails from a short stroll among ancient oaks to a challenging all-day bike ride.  The first trees of what was to become the Argyll Forest Park were planted here in the 1920s, after entertainer Harry Lauder leased the ground to the Forestry Commission. Later, Glenbranter village was built for workers who came here to work the forests of Cowal.

STRACHUR
With picturesque villages dotted along the east shore of Upper Loch Fyne there are many places to stop and enjoy the scenery and local hospitality in Strachur, St Catherines, Cairndow wth the world renown Loch Fyne Oyster Bar at the head of the Loch. You will also find Fyne Ales brewery. There are great woodland and garden walks, pebble beaches, old castle ruins churches, chapels and grave yards to explore.

DIRECTIONS
Follow signs for the Erskine bridge after passing Glasgow Airport. Cross the bridge and follow the signs for Inveraray and Oban. After the Rest and Be Thankful turn left onto the A815 and follow signs for Dunoon.

Pass through the village of Strachur then approx 3 miles further on see signs for Glenbranter on the right hand side. The cottage name is on the front of the cottage.

On the Dunoon side, turn right from the terminal and follow the road until you come to a T junction at Sandbank. Turn right and continue on this road (A815 signposted for Glasgow).

4.8/5 Stars Upfront Reviews - August 2022
We absolutely loved our stay at Glenbranter Cottage. The location is beautiful and there are lots of lovely woodland walks in the area. The cottage is very well appointed and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The welcome bottle of prosecco was a nice surprise too! Mark and Alison were very helpful and gave us some good tips on things to do and places to eat. We would happily stay there again.

Quiet village location in beautiful valley close to Dunoon, Argyll. Sleeps 2, pet friendly

5 star VRBO Review - 20 June 2022
You know that the weather in Scotland can be very changeable and the midges hungry. When you arm yourself against both, you can have the holiday of a lifetime at Glenbranter Cottage! A beautiful place, great base for all kinds of activities in the area, magical nature (Puck's Glen!!!) peace, space, friendly people, delicious food (getting used to the opening hours / closing times of Tearooms and Inns and Restaurants), fantastic walks both for the adventurer and for the challenged hiker. Walking routes well and clearly signposted. We look back on a great holiday. Oh yes the house: cozy, quiet, clean, equipped with everything you need, good furniture and very friendly and helpful host / woman. Mark knows the area like the back of his hand; he grew up in and around Glenbranter. An absolute must.

Perfect for a quiet and secluded retreat. You can walk out of the cottage into the most beautiful woods. There are waterfalls and walks around the loch.
The cottage is small but very comfortable.
I would recommend it to anyone who loves nature.
We can’t wait to go again.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Glenbranter Cottage; the cottage is very stylish, super comfortable and the kitchen is really well equipped. The location was perfect to explore the local area and was really peaceful. Alison and Mark's personal recommendations and advice were great, and it was lovely to meet them both. We would highly reccomend a stay here and would not hesitate to stay again.

Wonderful cottage tucked away in a Scottish National forest with a bubbling brook in front and stunning views and scenery all around the area

Great cottage, perfect for two people, beautiful location

Aug 2021
We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get away to a secluded location in a beautiful forest. Small but clean cottage with everything you'd need (though note no washing machine, but that wasn't a problem for us). Good comms from the owners, well located for lots of lovely walks and swims on the Cowal peninsula. Thanks!

Great cottage in the forest

Oct 2020
Super cottage in the Argyll forest. Great walks from the door step, nice and quiet so the dog could be off the lead most of the time. The cottage was cosy with a log burning fire, though it was small, it was bigger than we expected from the photos. Great stay, would recommend.

Autumn break

Oct 2020
A great break in a lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. This was our second stay here, postponed from spring, and it was well worth the wait.

Great relaxing weekend

Weekend Stay in Beautiful Argyll.
Charming little But n’ Ben! The location was a surprise and a wonderful one at that!! Right in the middle of the forestry walks and surrounded by nature. Beautiful.
The cottage was compact, cosy and had all we required. Peaceful and comfortable.
Our hosts Mark and Alison were welcoming and helpful and we both liked them very much. Would definitely return.
