5/5 Stars VRBO Review - August 2025
We had a wonderful stay at the Clam Shell Lodge! The surroundings are incredibly beautiful, and we enjoyed the peace and the view of the water. Everything we needed for a relaxing stay was taken care of, and our family dog was also welcome. There was always the option to contact someone for questions. As stated in the listing, there are no shopping facilities in the immediate area, but there is even the possibility to place orders and have them delivered! This allowed us to focus entirely on our relaxation. We brought our stand-up paddleboards and were able to use them perfectly thanks to the direct water access. All in all, this accommodation is highly recommended, and we would be happy to return!
5/5 AirBnB Review - August 2025
Absolutely loved our stay! The lodge was spacious and had just the right amount of charm with its own little beach for us to cook scallops and shuck oysters by. The oystercatcher did a banging bowl of mussels after a sunset dip and some great beers and ales too. We absolutely loved being on Loch Fyne / the perfect antidote to London life. Watch out for midgies and make sure blinds are down if windows are open.
Wonderful location
4.2/5 Upfront Reviews - May 2022
Wonderful location and very peaceful stay. Very comfortable stay in the cabin, very quiet with great views and lovely walks in area. Would suggest to owners that they provide some further information for visitors, regarding how to work hot water etc and perhaps a few more pieces of crockery/pans. If there had been more than 2 of us there would have been a struggle.. Would recommend for a peaceful and re-energizing stay.
Heaven!

Perfect location - yes it's miles from anywhere but bring your supplies and you'll never need anything!
We had various days out at beaches, and did the ferry to Tarbet one day.
Kids swam in the loch and played on the rope swing.
Perfectly appointed kitchen (could have used some scissors and sharp knives but it's a little thing). Beds were really comfy and never heard a peep from the children after all the Scottish air!
Will definitely be back.
Thanks so much for Tristan's help when we had a flat battery on the day we left! absolute gem!
A wonderful peaceful haven

The Clamshell is a lovely comfy lodge in a setting that is breath taking, whatever the weather. We immediately felt relaxed and at peace. The lodge owner was amazing and on hand if needed. The Oystercatcher at Otter Ferry a must for super food, drinks and service, just a 20 minute walk away. Come prepared with supplies of food and drinks and then simply relax and enjoy. The best short break we have had in a long time. We will be back. Thank you.
Perfect retreat
