Your Argyll holiday is a lot closer than you think. It may feel remote and wild in the Cowal Peninsula, but you can get from Glasgow to Dunoon in an hour and a half. There are two options: You can catch the ferry from Gourock. Travel by Citylink bus or train from Glasgow to the ferry terminals at Gourock or follow the M8 from Glasgow to Gourock. If you’re bringing your car over, catch the Western Ferries to Hunters Quay. If you’re on foot, catch the Western or Argyll Ferries (passenger only). Or you drive via the A82, an incredibly picturesque route that will take you past Loch Lomond, through Arrochar, over the beautiful Rest and Be Thankful, along Loch Fyne to the village of Strachur. From here, follow the banks of Loch Eck to Cowal’s main town, Dunoon. |
